Melanie’s Official Bio

Melanie Adams was born in Charlottetown PEI, and began her musical training there in piano, moving on to french horn and then voice. She continued her musical studies and holds a BMus. from Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB, and a MMus. from McGill University. She moved to Vancouver in 1999 and became a member of musica intima in January 2000. She also enjoys a solo career, performing in recitals, and as invited soloist with many Vancouver ensembles, as well as in Montreal, Ottawa and the Maritimes. She also greatly enjoys teaching, and is an instructor in the Musical Theatre Department at North Vancouver’s Capilano College; at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music, where she served as the first Voice Department Head from 2002-2005. She also has a studio in her home in New Westminster, BC, where she lives with her husband David and baby daughter Emily (and the envied cat Ayesha).
