Festival Vancouver: "that was then, this is now"

Music by Palestrina, Poulenc, Pärt, Tormis, Tallis, Hannan, and Mozart

This year’s two rich Festival Vancouver themes, the music of Italy and Mozart, offer the perfect opportunity for musica intima to present a program that is tailor-made to shine in its cathedral setting, featuring Renaissance motets by Palestrina along with a set of sacred and profane Mozart canons.

Canada’s premier conductor-less choral ensemble will also showcase its mastery of diverse musical styles by performing a recent work by Vancouver composer Peter Hannan based on Thomas Tallis’ "If Ye Love Me." Hannan’s piece, "Rethink Forever", is a kind of Ten Commandments of Love inspired by the words, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Rounding out this ear-pleasing program are some of musica intima’s favourite selections from our many popular CD recordings.

Tickets for this concert are available through Ticketmaster.ca — or visit Festival Vancouver's website to pick up your Festival Button and save up to 40% on the Choral Connections series.
