About auditioning
How can I audition?
“To audition, send me an email with your name, phone
or email and your voice type (ie. sop or alto etc) at ensemble [at]
musicaintima.org and
I'll put you on the auditions list. I'll give you a call when we audition,
usually in June of every year.”
(Siri
Olesen, soprano)
How do you choose members?
“We subject prospective members to a very lengthy audition process! It involves sight-reading, blending exercises, and the performance of two, or more, solo pieces. Most importantly, the auditionee will sit down with intima members and answer several questions.
“This part of the audition ends up taking the most time and is, for me,
the most informative. There are many incredible and talented musicians
out there but the challenge is finding someone who will work well in the
collective and with the existing members. The interview portion will often
quickly turn into a conversation or discussion. This allows for some good
times and most often a couple of laughs. Although choosing a new member
is a serious thing, we try to make the audition process fun. This tends
to bring out the best in people!”
(Joanna
Dundas, soprano)
