This challenging piece is based on the idea of Scottish prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Durham Cathedral in the seventeenth century.  Balfour uses layered entries, repeated motifs, and dense harmonies to create a soundworld that juxtaposes entrapement with spaciousness, and takes both the audience and singers on a journey.  Suitable for strong amateur and university choirs.
