Originally commissioned by Soundstreams (Toronto) Dring, dring was written for four voices, and in Ana’s words, is a “little musical theatre piece inspired by the telephone and the actions we take around that common object.” The piece was revised and expanded for musica intima’s Thirst concert (and subsequent recording), doubling the number of voices.  Using four different languages, Sokolovic explores the mechanical side of the machine, and our stereotypical answering. It consists of four sections: dialing, answering, lullaby and ‘bye-bye’. musica intima commissioned this new arrangement in 2014, and recorded it on thirst (2015).
