Millard: Towards the Light
Recorded April 2022 at Christ Church Cathedral
Premiered in 2022, Emily Millard was commissioned to write a new piece for musica intima, and she chose passages from Emily Carr's journals to set in this exciting work. The piece juxtaposes human kinds desires to create and destroy, and culminates in an intimate solo where the singer wishes to 'go into the woods alone' and surround themselves with new growth. The commissioning of Emily Millard was supported by the SOCAN Foundation.
