Merry-Go-Round of Life by Joe Hisaishi

The program brings together music inspired by the global cultural phenomenon of Studio Ghibli with Canadian and contemporary folk favourites shaped in close harmony.
At first, musica intima was drawn to Ghibli’s worldwide popularity and the beauty of its melodies. As the collaborative rehearsal process unfolded, something deeper emerged. All of the Ghibli songs are performed in Japanese, revealing a new level of virtuosity in diction, rhythmic precision, and ensemble unity. What began as curiosity quickly became a profound artistic undertaking. Alongside the technical challenge, the singers discovered unexpected emotional depth in the texts and music, quiet, luminous, and deeply human.
This is not a stylistic detour
In performance, the Ghibli works sit naturally beside Northern Lights, Garden Song, When The Sun Comes After Rain, and other cherished repertoire. The core sound of musica intima remains unmistakable with its signature clarity, blend, and virtuosity.
No staging. No amplification. Just voices in resonant acoustic space.
Tickets are available. We invite you to experience Spirit Whisper.
